Plot Synopsis
Origin and Motivation: Peter Parker, a young, idealistic photojournalist for the Daily Bugle, is an apprentice to the cynical but well-connected reporter Ben Urich. His uncle, Ben Parker, a vocal social activist, is brutally murdered by the enforcers of the city's reigning crime boss, Norman Osborn (aka "the Goblin"). Peter resolves to seek justice in a corrupt system where the law is often powerless against the mob.
A Fateful Bite: While following a tip from Urich at a warehouse filled with stolen antiques, an ancient spider idol breaks open, releasing a swarm of mystical spiders. One bites Peter, causing him to pass out and experience a vision of a spider-god. He awakens in a cocoon with superhuman spider-like abilities
