Remember, I know nothing about this sport or its equipment. But I do have an eye for old stuff. This racket is different than others I’ve shared. It’s not a compound of intricate ingredients—this is wood & the wood grain is beautifully exposed in the shaft.

There’s leather inlay at the bottom of the head & starting up the throat with a label that reads: FJ Bancroft, Made in “Pawtuck” (‘et’ rubbed off) R.I.U.S.A., Trade Mark.

Early 1900s? These look like natural gut strings. May be hand-strung? Comes with Wooden Press Brace Frame. CHECK PIX. Depend on the pictures, not my word. *smile*

Backstory:
Frederick J. Bancroft started making wooden tennis rackets in 1882, at Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The firm used white ash from Vermont. The high quality rackets were popular, until lighter, stronger rackets, made of carbon fiber "graphite," and other materials, dominated the sport.
